It's winter in Manhattan. People have just left work and are on their way home. This is the intersection of Houston and Broadway. It's busy and there is not much of a chance to jaywalk. You know how New Yorkers love that. As soon as I snapped the picture, red had changed to white and they were off.
It was a challenge to paint the figures back lit in the red light. I initially had the figures too dark and went back and added some color in the 4 and 5 range. It was a good exercise in painting contrast.
I can't think of a name for the painting. Any suggestions?

Love all the intense color! Great composition also. It looks like the city is on fire. Love it!
Sorry, not a lot of help with naming. I'm running dry on ideas for them right now. But this is beautiful! Love the blue hat on the center person... nice
Love this...I can feel the heaviness of the journey home. I would call it "5 oclock shadow". ;) Great piece whatever you decide to name it!
I'm terrible with naming paintings, so I am of no help! I do really like this. I'm very impressed how you painted your subjects back lit. Your painting has energy to it. Well done!
Fun Painting. Your comments & painting made me think of
"The Gathering" or "NY Minute" but I like 5 oclock shadow too
